  • Previous experience as a peer reviewer for scholarly journals is highly desirable. Familiarity with the peer review process, including manuscript evaluation, providing constructive feedback, and adhering to deadlines, is essential.
  • An understanding of research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical methods relevant to pharmacology and medicine.
  • A strong commitment to upholding academic integrity and ethical standards in scholarly publishing, including maintaining confidentiality and identifying potential ethical issues such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or conflicts of interest.
  • Fluency in English, with excellent writing and communication skills, is essential for effectively evaluating manuscripts and providing clear, concise feedback.
  • Proficiency with online manuscript management and submission systems is a plus.

Roles and responsibilities

As a reviewer for JPMR, you will play a central role in evaluating submitted manuscripts and ensuring that only high-quality, scientifically rigorous research is published. Your main responsibilities will include,

  • Conducting thorough, unbiased, and objective evaluations of submitted manuscripts. You will assess the originality, scientific merit, methodology, data analysis, and relevance of the research.

  • Identifying any potential ethical concerns, such as plagiarism, authorship disputes, or conflicts of interest, and ensuring that the manuscript adheres to the journal’s ethical guidelines.
  • Providing timely reviews and adhering to deadlines to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the peer review process.
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the review process and refraining from disclosing any information about the manuscripts being reviewed.
  • Engaging in professional development opportunities, including attending workshops and training sessions to stay updated on best practices in peer review and scholarly publishing.

Term of service

The initial term of service for reviewers is two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and mutual agreement. Reviewers are expected to review a minimum of three to five manuscripts per year, depending on the volume of submissions and their availability. The number of manuscripts you are assigned may vary, but we aim to balance the workload fairly among our reviewers. Reviewers who consistently meet deadlines and contribute high-quality reviews may receive further opportunities for involvement in the journal’s editorial activities.
